Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Colombo Arrival (D)

Ayubowan! Welcome to Sri Lanka! Our tour guide will meet you at the Bandaranaike International Airport upon your arrival and then you will be transferred to the city center of Colombo. After checking in to the hotel, you are free to walk around this coastal city or you may wish to sleep to better deal with jet lag. Welcome dinner at a local eatery!

Day 2: A Glimpse of Colombo (B, L, D)

A day of memorable highlights in Colombo with a stop first to the National Museum, famous for its ancient civilization, the spacious Independence Square, and the Gangaramaya Temple – an excellent combination of modern architecture and a touch of culture, before visiting a bustling market in Pettah. Explore the Pettah Fort, amazing colonial architecture in the midst of dynamic commerce before heading to the Galle Face Green – a massive urban park along the coastline to enjoy the gentle ocean wind and admire the beautiful sunset.

Day 3: Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage – Dambulla – Sigiriya (B, L, D)

Start the day with a scenic drive to Sigiriya. En route, we will stop by Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage found to nurture orphaned calves, treat the feeble and rehabilitate the injured. We also pay our visit to the famous Dambulla Cave Temple that is home to many magnificent Buddha statues and rock paintings dating back to the 2nd century BC.

Day 4: Sigiriya: Lion’s Rock – Minneriya National Park (B, L, D)

Set off early in the morning visit the landmark of Sri Lanka – the 5th-century legendary sky palace of “Lion’s Rock”. This mount of remembrance is a World Heritage Site and arguably the most marvelous site in Sri Lanka. Although climbing a number of vertiginous staircases attached to sheer walls is requested, the story behind the monument, impressive water gardens and the panoramic view over the spectacular landscape are absolutely worth your effort.

After lunch, visit Minneriya National Park on a safari tour to see the majestic creatures such as wild elephants, sambar deer and leopards in their natural habitat.

Day 5: Sigiriya: Hot Air Ballooning (B, L)

Enjoy a romantic early morning hot air balloon ride as you gaze upon the picturesque sceneries of paradise from up above clouds. Drifting gently over the Cultural Triangle, or a wildlife park by a silent ride through the blue sky will be unforgettable in your honeymoon.

Day 6: Kandy (B, L, D)

Leave early this morning for Kandy – the second largest city of Sri Lanka. On arrival, your guided Kandy city tour gets started with the vibrant Cultural Dance (Kandyan Dance). After the exciting performance, just walk about 5 minutes to approach the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic – Sri Lanka’s most sacred Buddhist shrine, in which the evening Puja Ritual held in the temple will give a chance to discover the ultimate spiritual importance of this well-known temple.

Day 7: Kandy (B, L, D)

After breakfast, take an interesting visit to the Royal Botanical Garden of Peradeniya which is home to a vast variety of orchids, spices, medicinal plants, and palm trees.
This afternoon you are free to simply relax or enjoy the facilities at your hotel. You could either take some rest at your lovely hotel or explore the city on your own, like walking around the mind-blowing Kandy Lake or go shopping in the downtown markets.

Day 8: Nuwara Eliya (B)

Board the train to Hatton and take the beautiful scenery of the villages full of friendly people, verdant tea estates, charming waterfalls, and magnificent mountains before reaching our destination. Spend the rest of your day relaxing by the hotel pool.

Day 9: Nuwara Eliya (B, L, D)

More picturesque splendors of Nuwara Eliya as you trek through cascading tea hills where you can have firsthand experience of the art of plucking and making tea. Have a talk to the friendly locals and enjoy a warm cup of the well-known Ceylon tea in the cool climate. Thereafter, enjoy a boat trip in Gregory Lake and visit Victoria Park housing colorful flowers and verdant plants.

Day 10: Koggala (B, L, D)

Depart Nuwara Eliya and head south to the coastal town of Koggala. On arrival, conduct a city tour including a visit to the Galle Port built-in 1588 – a popular destination of tourists and also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Be prepared to see mischievous Dolphins and Whales showing off, observe and give a try to the tradition of stilt fishing under the ocean sunset.

Day 11: Koggala (B)

Indulge in the curving and golden beach and go into total relaxation mode by the pool or enjoy the Ayurveda massage with your beloved one.

Day 12: Colombo Departure (B)
